chat with yap

Ask your archive what was decided, who said what, what is still open.

Yap can answer questions about your recordings: "what was decided, who said what, what is still open." The answers come from your transcripts, with quotes, and by default they are produced on your machine.

open the chat

Click the Yap mascot. It sits on the home screen, on the recordings list, and on every transcript. The chat slides up over the current view.

ask something

Type into "Ask YAP anything…" and press Ask. You can also hold a key to talk instead of typing — the hint under the composer names the key.

The chips above the composer show what Yap reads:

  • On a transcript, Yap reads that recording.
  • Everywhere else, Yap reads your whole archive.

Yap quotes the transcript passages it used, so you can check every claim at the source.

keep what worked

  • The left rail saves your conversations. new conversation starts fresh.
  • keep this conversation as a lens turns a question you keep asking into a lens that runs on every future recording by itself.

use a cloud model, if you insist

By default a local model answers. If you connected your own provider (see language model engines), Yap asks before it sends anything: "send these transcripts to {provider}?" — no, keep it here stays local. Nothing leaves your machine without that explicit yes.
