Hold period in the search box and talk — your words land at the caret.

The search box (⌘ K) has a push-to-talk mode: hold . and speak. Release, and what you said is transcribed and inserted right at the caret. A quick tap of . still types a literal period — holding is what flips into dictation.

It's the fastest way to fire off a search like "that chat with Alice about the budget" without typing it.

Like everything else, dictation is transcribed locally with your speech model, and language is detected automatically.
