export your data

One transcript in six formats, or everything in one zip.

Your recordings are already yours — plain files in your vault. Export is for the moments you want a transcript in a specific format, or the whole library in one portable archive.

export one transcript

  1. Open the recording.
  2. Click Actions (or press ⇧⌘K) and choose Export.
  3. Pick a format.
formatgood for
Markdown (.md)notes apps, wikis, pasting into a doc
Plain text (.txt)anything that reads text
WebVTT (.vtt)subtitles for web video
SubRip (.srt)subtitles for most video players
JSON (.json)scripts and tools — full structure, speakers, timestamps
CSV (.csv)spreadsheets

A toast confirms the export and offers Show in folder.

export everything

  1. Open Settings → your yapyap → export.
  2. Click export all data.

You get one yapyap-export.zip: every recording with its audio, its metadata, and a transcript beside each audio file, plus your speakers, lenses, and vocabulary. Use it as a backup, or to move to another machine — Settings → your vault → Import a bundle… reads it back in.

have a transcript beside every recording, always

You do not have to export by hand. yapyap writes a transcript file next to every audio file in your vault — pick the format under Settings → your vault → transcript format. See the file map.
