recording
Press period, talk, press period again. Live words, markers, and a microphone that's only ever on when you say so.
Press . anywhere in the app (or use the tray icon) and yapyap starts listening. You get a big timer, a live transcript streaming in as you speak (toggle it with ↓/↑), and an Add note button to drop a marker on the timeline whenever something worth finding later is said. Press . again to stop.
Say anything you like — in your own language. Transcription detects the spoken language by ear; it is never tied to the app's display language.
the microphone is yours
A promise worth documenting: yapyap never listens outside a recording.
- Browsing or picking a mic in the device list opens no audio stream — capture starts when you start a recording, not before.
- The device picker remembers your recently used microphones and pre-selects the last one, so a headset that's currently unplugged doesn't reset your choice.
- If access is denied you'll see "Microphone access is required to start a recording." — fix it in your OS privacy settings and try again.
markers
During (or after) a recording, Add note drops a pin at the current moment — a toast confirms "Marked at 12:34" and lets you type a note right away. Pins show as little flags on the playback waveform; click one to jump there. Markers made on your phone arrive the same way after sync.
