importing audio
Drag a file into yapyap and it becomes a first-class recording — transcribed, split by speaker, searchable.
Any audio you already have — voice memos, meeting downloads, old interviews — can be dragged into the recordings screen (or picked via the import button). An imported file goes through exactly the same pipeline as a live recording: transcription, speaker recognition, lenses, search.
While importing you'll see a progress toast with a cancel button; large files stream in chunks, so imports don't balloon memory or lock up the app.
when an import fails
Failures say what actually happened, in plain words:
| message | what it means |
|---|---|
| could not read this audio | the file isn't decodable audio (or is corrupted) |
| not enough space on this device | disk full — free space and retry |
| source file is no longer available | the file moved/vanished mid-import |
| import was interrupted | app or machine stopped it — safe to retry |
A failed import leaves a review surface open so you can retry or discard it deliberately — nothing disappears without you deciding.
Importing from your phone is even easier: share the file to yapyap go and it syncs over. See the phone companion.
